Chamomile Flowers - 50g
Found throughout Europe, where it has a long history of use as a medicinal plant, chamomile grows wild in fields and along roadsides, and is cultivated in gardens. The plant reaches a height of around 40cm and its daisy-like flowers have an aromatic scent. Chamomile has been used for centuries as a medicinal plant, mostly for digestive disorders, where it acts to soothe inflamed or irritated gastro-intestinal tissue and reduce the spasms of griping pain. It is also valuable as a mild sedative. A chamomile steam inhalation may help to ease sinusitis, asthma, hay fever and bronchitis. Great natural antihistamine for allergies. The anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties of chamomile make it a good remedy for stomach aches, period pain and cramps. Chamomile calms anxiety and tension, and promotes sleep. It is an excellent relaxant for babies and children.
Externally, chamomile cream treats skin inflammation and promotes healing. Chamomile is recommended for use with eczema, nappy rash and cracked nipples. It is also used an eye bath and in antiseptic mouthwashes.
1 Teaspoon of dried herb infused into a cup of hot water. Strain and drink. Sweet with honey to taste if required.
