Tree of Life
The tree of life. That really confusing movie. Or that tree where Hodor has to ‘hold the door’ before the Game of Thrones scriptwriters axed his ass. No, not really. The baobab tree is the common name for each of the nine species of tree in the genus Adansonia. The largest baobab in SA can be found on Sunland Farm in Limpopo, and with a circumference at breast height of 34m, you’re not going to be able to give it a good hug. You’ll look more like a splayed insect across a windscreen. African elders have their tribal meetings under the shade of a baobab tree, so it’s poignant for us as we grasp for healthy, PC icons in a post-apartheid South Africa.
