Decadently luxurious range of quality candles, designed and handmade by artist Gretha Quinlan at her charming studio shop in Greyton. The shop also stocks a unique range of aromatherapy chakra oils, all displayed against the backdrop of original paintings done by the artist.

To me candle making is light making. The thought that these candles go out into the world where people mourn the death of a loved one, where lovers meet over dinner, say their marriage vows, meditate and pray, relax in a bath after a hard day, or light the way in the dark to get from one room to another; I feel privileged to be the maker of that light.

Subtly vanilla scented, or unscented, my candles are hand-crafted from a German wax for strength, and formulated to be slow burning, outshining most commercial candles by many hours. They are designed to burn in and not down. There are however some tips to get the most out of your candle. Keep the wick really short. Shield the flame from draughts to ensure that the flame remains straight. Unlike some candles, the wick goes all the way to the bottom of my candles, so initially you can place the candle on the table, but when it starts burning at its most beautiful, when you only see the glow inside and not the flame, you need to put it on a saucer to prevent the heat of the melted wax inside the candle from damaging your table.
